@Pressed MV yes you can, you have to be smart and think quick, get on your back and swim in diagonal, not parallel to the shore, don't go against the current, save your energy, make slow progress until the current no longer pushes you away from the shore. Try to not be a tard like this guy and fall in the ocean when there's no help coming or just accept death. Oh and don't forget to be a good swimmer too, it may fucking helps when you go play fish.

@Pressed MV swimming to shore is not always possible. When I was very young I had got swept by a wave in Goa. The waves near the surface are constantly breaking and pulling you back, the waves near the ground are less turbulent but have sand in it near the shoreline. Saltwater stings in the eyes along with there being too many sharp jutting rocks near the bed and you are guaranteed to have an awful experience. 0/10 - would not recommend.

Just an FYI, if you're ever in the position of finding someone that's been in the water for a long time like that, DO NOT LAY THEM DOWN. There was a case from the coast guard where they rescued two people in this situation, but they were so hypothermic and their legs were so cold that when they laid the woman down, the freezing blood ran to her heart and either sent her into irrecoverable shock, or there were microscopic ice particles (it was in Alaska I think) that damaged her brain and killed her on the spot. Just sit them down upright

@webguy943 definitely not. It's just like if someone is dehydrated or having heat stroke you only give them warm water. The temperature change to the body can be real hard on you. If memory serves it can induce a heart attack if you heat or cool someone's core temperature too fast. (I believe it's heart attack but it may be something else)

@James Watson well, most people are floating. Some do, but scary and dont try it for some reason (stop to early thinking that they dont). I am skinny so i float only when i keep my lungs at about 70% full (so i kinda just stop exhale to the full extent). Interesting thing is that theoretically fat people should float better since fat is less dense than water, but some people above had pointed out that there is also struggle to position yourself by keeping head above water. But yes, it is possible that you donf float, i just generlized in my message because most people who dont are afraid to go to deep water

@JP Baley so i need to add that yes, a positive outcome needs to BE the aim or objective or purpose, the goal needs to be something that would make you happy. it’s no good if the purpose is to work as a slave for someone to get something they want done—there there is a purpose, but no that would not cure depression. but i maintain that purpose is critical: it’s no good trying to cure it with fleeting joys like fast food or playing games casually indefinitely or spending all your time watching youtube meme channels; these things will give short-term joy, but, because there’s no purpose in it beyond that, one will just slump back into the depression afterwards. of course, it’s fine and indeed necessary to relax with things like that when one needs a break, but one can’t make them one’s main thing. however: learning to cook; playing games competitively, or with a view to making a game one’s self; or watching a ton of youtube to learn more about a certain thing, or even to get an idea of how to make meme videos one’s self; these things all have a purpose, which purpose is to achieve something that would make one happy; so these things would cure depression. in your story, yes, the man would have stayed depressed had he seen no improvement in the dog’s condition, as his efforts would have been in vain, and his ‘purpose’ would have been merely sustaining the dog’s existence, regardless of its happiness. but i’m sure that as soon as he started to see signs of improvement in the dog, then his depression lifted, as then he saw that his goal of making the dog happy was attainable—at that point he had a ‘worthwhile’ purpose. i think there will always be something of a residual depression for everyone, as there is a degree of fundamental dissatisfaction in everything you can think of doing; but it is not significant, and it is not enough that would cause you to really be ‘depressed’, just enough to temper perpetual ecstasy i guess; provided your goal is something that really would make you rather happy and satisfied.
Месяц назад
JP Baley
@Galen Burnett I have to disagree. “Fighting a lawsuit” may get you out of bed but it doesn’t help with depression. I remember a story James Herriot wrote about in one of his books regarding a client, who found his little dog was going blind. Herriot wrote how the man was becoming very depressed at the unfairness and suffering he knew his dog was going through. In the story, Herriot told the dog owner how important it was to take care of his dog so the dog would be able to navigate the world. The man got up every morning, still very depressed as his dog went blind, but knew he had to take care of the dog. His depression only lifted after seeing his dog being able to run and play and enjoy himself because his owner did everything to help the dog. He was happy, no longer depressed, because his dog was happy.

@Chase Webb Nope, it is possible to tread water for longer, much longer, but the reality is dark. During WWII, the USS Indianapolis, which was responsible for transporting Uranium for you-know-what, was torpedoed by the Japanese, hundreds of men were lost during the sinking but hundreds more remained afloat. The men who survived the sinking of the ship itself had to tread water not for one day, not for two days, not for three days, but for almost four days... many died, accounts report constantly feeling sharks at the bottom of the feet, hypothermia etc, only a minority of the sinking survivors were actually rescued, and of that minority, more died after being rescued due to being so near death. Since it was the US Navy, they did have some supplies, but not much, since the ship sank suddenly. This man is such a chief for surviving all on his own, albeit for just a day.

@wendighoul I’ve heard stories like that book, and it’s absolutely tragic. But those horrible actions are also not at all supported by the church. And generally in the church (there could be a rare few bad wards out there that were behind what you’ve been talking about) we do not a) oppress anyone of any religion or group. We welcome everybody with open doors. Just because we don’t support certain lgbt actions doesn’t mean we’re oppressing someone. And b) Welty’s church does not go out of the way to suppress ex-members. We’re all for free speech. If someone, like April Daniels, wants to publish a book, then they’re free to do so. *Note: I’ll gladly look up the book, I’m very curious to read it actually. It may be that someone was deliberately not helping that community when helped was asked for or a problem came to light. I don’t know anything about that situation, but I know that higher up church leaders are amazingly kind, good people. It’s important to know all the facts before generalizing church you’ve never even been to in person.

@wendighoul Author? Source? I tried to look up Paperdolls but didn’t find anything relevant. Also beware that most of the “horrifying” or otherwise negative info you hear about only online, is usually a lie. If you meet a LDS member, chances are they are incredibly kind and friendly, with good morals. I’m sorry you’ve heard otherwise. There are “bad” people in every organization, religion, etc, but that doesn’t define the religion overall. Also the only truly horrifying part of our history pertains to the 1800s period of serious, devastating persecution against members of the church (which included actual murder at times).

Месяц назадJP Baley

It’s funny how the ending is usually a soothing landscape but this time it was a dog being massaged 😂

The “guys who looked like they were trying to sell something” were LDS missionaries 😂😂. Even if you don’t agree with my church, these guys (called “Elders”) are 99% of the time extremely friendly, helpful, and kind, so don’t be afraid to talk to them!

@Chase Randall that's wonderful and refreshing to hear, considering how many bad people I hear these days within those sorts of groups, it's nice to be reminded there being genuinely good people within the religion. Then again I listen to bad Reddit videos, maybe I should take a break from them xD

@wendighoul I understand where you are coming from but as an LDS member, we are taught to love everyone as Jesus did including LGBTQ people. We are also taught to marry someone of the opposite gender
Месяц назадKate Sansom
Месяц назадKate Sansom

@TheIrishBoah bro id take the forest anyday if had to choose from 3 miles inside the ocean or 3 miles inside forest
2 месяца назадTheIrishBoah
@@waldelmartell7488 The protected forests where people usually go, have much deeper places. And to get to the other side of such a place, do you think ordinary people survive all nature?
2 месяца назадWhy are you here +1
@TheIrishBoah both are horrible, but i think you'd prefer not having to float for hours and basically freezing to death while you float for hours without end.
2 месяца назадTameriz +6
@TheIrishBoah both are horrible, but the person lost in forest is still much, *much* more likely to survive than the person lost in ocean. Especially if it's a cold one.
2 месяца назадTheIrishBoah +16
@G̶A̶R̶P̶ Ehm,Did you know that if you get lost in a forest, are there chances that you will go deep into it and never be seen again? Hundreds of disappearances in forests are like that, since you do not believe that mapping something means that they have been there, both are horrible.

I honestly like that you show us the video you used for the thumbnail first and not at the end or somewhere in the middle. To me it's always been a sign of respect for our attention, showing us what you say your going to show and then proceeding to also show us more interesting stuff. Your not holding our attention captive to show us other stuff first before we get to what we want to see. I respect and thank you for it.
