@Ondřej Augusta While not all German police are aggressive assholes you can be sure that many if not most on riot control are because all of the racists, hooligans and assholes volunteer because they want to get violent. There is no proper check on the police just like in the US (they control themselves) which makes them act entitled and with impunity. Literal Nazis with swastika tattoos could not be fired because of their immunity and only got paid suspension. The job of a police officer mostly attracts assholes because of the unchecked power they get and the police union opposes the idea of an independent entity being the check on them which only proves that they don't view themselves as servants of the state, but instead value only the benefits of the job and it also increased the "we vs them" mentality. It doesn't make sense to protect priviliges that elevate any person above another in a democratic state and there would be no downside to an indepent institution being the check on the police because only those that have done wrong would suffer consequences in the first place.

What is silly is that this was how less armored forces dealt with heavy infantry. For several millennia. @DNTME your argument is kind of weird. JimmySchwarz was only saying that German police is able to handle things without shooting people. This has nothing to do with their equipment. They do wear tactical vests that protect against attacks by knife, pistol and fire (which look bulky because of the rain jacket) and all of them are armed with guns. Still they are only allowed to shoot in extreme situations and in absolutely most cases don't shoot. The reason for them wearing those vests is an incident about 20 years ago where a guy was shooting cops. Still this was an isolated incident.

That turtle guy is a professional for sure. When I was in college I volunteered to clean the turtle tank at a sanctuary and didn't see the turtle come at me (thinking they were totally harmless). It took a coin sized chunk out of my ankle and it got badly infected afterwards. Don't underestimate sea turtles!

The facility was founded by a local environmental group in the Philippines to protect sea turtles and developed with the help of the United Nations Global Development Program. This particular tank is the home for severely injured turtles who could no longer be returned to the wild due to disability, and volunteers are in charge of regularly cleaning the tanks. The turtles have to remain in the tank to prevent stress and we don't use any detergents, because the water is actually just cycled from the ocean via pumps and we can't pollute the surrounding area. Overall, it's a responsible organization, but I was just unlucky enough to not pay attention to what was essentially a slow mo turtle attack like in the video.
